Installed prices are U.S. residential ranges compiled in September 2026 from published cost guides, which is also how metal roof installation pricing is built. Architectural asphalt uses the union of peer calculator tables ($4.11–$5.57 / sq ft) and homewyse May 2026 ($5.09–$6.66 / sq ft), stored as $411–$666 per roofing square. The table is not a survey. It is not RSMeans.

Regional labor differences use U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS), occupation Roofers (SOC 47-2181). State mean hourly wages are May 2024 OEWS. Only the ratio of state mean hourly wage to the employment-weighted national mean of those same state rows ($25.51) enters the sheet. BLS pay is not the amount billed to a homeowner. States with suppressed samples use national average rates × 1.00.

Material and labor lines are an allocation of the installed cost, not separate quoted figures. The low end assumes a clean rectangle: no deck repair, one layer of penetrations, ground access. A contractor bid prices the roof that is actually there.
